          Goals and Objectives
          Summary of the partnership's goals and objectives
          CDM projects potential in Asia need to be realised through institutional streamlining, wide spread expertise knowledge, national strategy on promising areas, and support by industrial sector. CDM-related capacity building program is to address these agenda by utilising Japanese experience and tools of international co-operation and energy policy.
          Expected results are:
          Smooth start of CDM projects will be foreseen/encouraged and green house gas emission reduction will be achieved. As a result, it will contribute host countries' sustainable development.
          Targets and Progress
          Partnership targets
          For the beginning stage of the CDM implementation (2002-2005)
          - to strengthening expertise knowledge and fostering understanding on CDM in the government and in the industrial sector (including candidates for Operational Entities)
          - to help the government sector concerning the implementation of CDM project
          - to support developing national strategy on CDM
          - to conduct joint research programs on CDM potential areas by universities and/or research institutes
          - to implement case studies on model projects

          The capacity building program will be made on the basis of the discussion at the coordination meetings.

          How the partnership contributes to the implementation of Agenda 21, the Programme for the Further Implementation of Agenda 21, and the Johannesburg Plan of Implementation

          Coordination and Implementation
          Coordination Mechanism of the Partnership
          METI, Japan will play a role of coordination body among partnership countries and develop a draft overall capacity building program for each country in consultation with partner countries. The coordination meetings will be held to organize the program.
          The coordination meetings will be held once a year and implementation of each country's program will be reviewed.
