|
Partnership targetsIREA seeks to provide comity and synergy among the existing international renewable energy-related organisations in such a way as to build strength and achieve progress through the sum of its parts.
|
Progress against targetsIREA is a coalition advocacy group, building linkages on common interests within the renewable energy community and facilitating information and contacts to other relevant business, technical, conservation, research, civil society, governmental and international organisations.
IREA provides a common platform for the diverse interests in the renewable energy community comprising associations whose principal activities relate to renewable energy and/or policy development in relation to the use of renewable energy to reduce pollution, to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and reduce the problems of security of supply. IREA will as and when necessary, assemble and publish information, build consensus on forward-looking policy and promote common linkages within the renewable energy community for priority strategies for fast and sustainable development of all renewable energy technologies, the benefits of renewable energy to the public and to mobilise action by its members. IREA works with networks and organisations having the advancement of renewable energy as their major purpose. |
Coordination Mechanism of the PartnershipThe Chair of IREA is Hon. Peter Rae who has a seat as a Board member in each of the IREA member organisations.
The member organisations are represented by the Executive Directors or Secretariats of each member organisation. They meet at least twice a year to coordinate the activities relevant to meeting the goals and objectives of IREA. Secondly monthly teleconferences are held among the member organisations representatives to monitor progress. |
Implementation Mechanism of the PartnershipThe main activities are to
* co-operate jointly to the mutual advantage of each member organization. * promote an on-going process of policy development and consensus building that encourages renewable energy development. * research and publish authoritative, analytically sound information in support of renewable energy policy. * participate in international frameworks and events enhancing the knowledge and acceptance of renewable energy including UN initiatives and programmes. * publicize renewable energy solutions through advertising, promotion and other means of information dissemination such as conferences and meetings when and where appropriate. |
