    Goals and Objectives
    Summary of the partnership's goals and objectives
    The Alexandria Academy Association For Science (AAAS) is a non-profit non-Governmental organization registered in Alexandria- Egypt for educational and charitable purposes. AAAS is the owner of the High Institute for Tourism, Hotels, and Computer ( HITHC), which was established with the objective of promoting education in community sustainable development. The Institute activities include: education, development of model training programs, applied research, seminars, workshops, academic programs, and university partnerships.

    Both AAAS and HITHC are concerned with activities that promote the following aspects:
    a) Individual and community social and economical development.
    b) Community Service
    c) Community self -determination
    d) Sustainable Tourism development.
    e) Effective natural sources management
    f) Poverty eradication
    g) Rural development through introducing and promoting countryside tourism.
    Targets and Progress
    Partnership targets
    a) Create a data-base for sustainable tourism development in north delta zone.
    b) Develop training programs that foster sustainable tourism development.
    c) Conducting applied research providing up to date information concerning
    problems facing sustainable tourism development in the North Delta Zone, as
    well as potential aspects of new investments.
    d) Publication of research results and recommendations in workshops and print out
    publications.
    e) Collaborate with Governmental and non Governmental bodies to introduce and
    promote small business projects providing required services at tourist
    destinations suffering lack of services.
    f) Collaborate with Governmental and non Governmental bodies to introduce and
    promote countryside tourism to North Delta Zone.
    g) Collaborate with Governmental and non-Governmental bodies to introduce and
    promote sustainable tourism projects and small business to the north coast zone.
    Progress against targets
    AAAS has started Expert-House program with the above mentioned goals and targets
    through collaboration with HITHC as a main partner. The program started in January
    2007 with a pilot study on tourist destination in Alexandria city searching "Problems of
    Tourist Services in Historic Sites" sponsored by a donation made by AAAS.

    The next step is planned to take place in October 2007 by holding a 2day workshop with the following agenda:
    a) Publishing the results of the study
    b) Publishing a case study of development accomplished through cooperation
    between HITHC and private sector parties.

    The workshop is targeted towards the following parties:
    - Academic bodies concerned with Tourism i.e. Faculty of Tourism at Egyptian
    Universities, High Institute of Tourism – Private Education Institutes, ..etc
    - Tourists Agencies
    - Major Tour Operators
    - Non-Governmental Organizations concerned with sustainable tourism
    development, poverty eradication, un-employment, and women affairs.
    - Governmental bodies, local authorities, and ministerial bodies concerned with
    infra-structure, tourism, and community development.

    The results expected are concerned with attracting cooperation with partners towards
    capacity building. The Program's progress is dependant upon providing funds required.

    As mentioned above, AAAS and HITHC targets and objectives of the Expert-House program focus sustainable development program and activities through a case study approach within the host community of Governorates of North Delta zone, Egypt and apply knowledge and technical assistance to communities throughout Egypt. Emphasis on private sector non-governmental partnerships in promoting and executing businesses, and on international bodies in research, training and education programs.

    The Partnership aims to support and develop activities that promote individual and community social and economical development, community service, community self -determination, sustainable tourism development, effective natural sources management, rural development through introducing and promoting countryside tourism and ultimately contribute to poverty eradication.

    educational, research and technical assistance activities.

    made:
    1) An agreement of cooperation in hospitality training and distance learning
    program with Ecole Hôtelière d' Avignon - Avignon - France
    2) An agreement of cooperation in hospitality training with Egyptian Chef
    Association (ECA) - Egypt
    3) A proposal submitted by Bibliotheca Alexandrina April 2006 for "Itinéraires
    d'Alexandrie" with HITHC as the Educational party responsible for training
    Tour Guides specialized in Alexandria. – Alexandria - Egypt

    Implementation Mechanism of the Partnership
    The implementation mechanism is through collaborative agreements with various
    organizational partners to carry out educational programs in community sustainable
    development. The organization's activities include partnerships in applied research,
    seminars, workshops and activities which demonstrate sustainable community
    development that promote a community's social, economic and environmental well
    being.

    Our program (EXPERT HOUSE) is in formulation stage with the preliminary steps represented in the pilot study and the planned workshop. The program depends upon cooperation with the industry and business society as much as the international expertise. The program can be applied on other parts of Egypt to help supporting and elevating sustainable tourism development.

    The North Delta Zone is the part of Egypt covering the area from the Mediterranean in the north to Cairo in the south, and from Suez Canal in the east to the Egyptian-Libyan borders n the west. It is divided into a number of administrative areas (Governorates), where Governmental authorities are represented through local offices.
